True Cyan (2f No Nay Never – Realtra, by Dark Angel) emerged as an exciting prospect when running out a smart winner of Saturday’s fillies’ maiden at Newmarket.
Racing over seven furlongs, the Roger Varian-trained newcomer was settled towards the back of the field by David Egan and began to make headway from two furlongs out. Pushed along to lead approaching the final furlong, she ran on well to win by a length and a half.
“True Cyan has just clinked into gear nicely in the last fortnight,” the winning trainer said. “She can obviously gallop and won really well. She’s got the option of going for a novice or the Oh So Sharp Stakes, but that race comes quite quickly and whether she runs again this year depends on how she comes out of the race.”
Owned by KHK Racing, True Cyan was sold by Willie Browne’s Mocklershill at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale for £150,000. She was bred by Barronstown Stud out of three-time Group winner Realtra, who has a yearling colt and filly foal by Camelot.
