Cherry Blossom (3f No Nay Never – Canada Water, by Dansili) gained a deserved black-type win when justifying favouritism in Friday’s Listed Polonia Stakes at Cork.
The Barronstown-bred bay was a talented juvenile, finishing second in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes and valuable Goffs Million, before taking fourth in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes. Wayne Lordan partnered the Aidan O’Brien-trained filly, riding her to make virtually all of the running as she dropped back to five and a half furlongs. Ridden inside the final furlong, she was always in command and kept on to score by a length and a half.
A return to Group company is now on the agenda for Cherry Blossom, who holds entries in a pair of Group 1 sprints at Royal Ascot. The daughter of no Nay Never was bred by Barronstown Stud out of a full-sister to dual Group 1 winner Rail Link.
