Puppet Master (2c Camelot – Realtra, by Dark Angel) built on last month’s promising debut to run out an impressive winner of Saturday’s maiden at the Galway Festival.
Aidan O’Brien’s debut second was sent off favourite to go one better under Wayne Lordan and raced in second for much of the way. Ridden to lead approaching the final furlong, he drew clear inside the final furlong, going on to win by four lengths.
Wayne Lordan described the winner as “a lovely colt,” before adding, “He jumped, travelled, and I thought he quickened up well. He has a bit of class.”
Owned by Coolmore partners, the Barronstown-bred colt is a half-brother to the highly-rated True Cyan.
